Case Study – Flybox

Flybox

At Castlecroft, we understand that businesses need room to grow. When King James VI residents Flybox.co.uk found themselves in need of more space not once but twice in eighteen months, we always found the perfect solution…

THE BUSINESS…

Flybox.co.uk was founded by Ian Christie in 2004 and has since become one of the UK’s leading developers of materials and products for use in fly-tying. Ian now works with many of Scotland’s top fly-tyers and competition anglers to continually develop his exclusive range and, in order to do that, he needs the perfect space.

Orders can be placed online via the dedicated online shop www.flybox.co.uk and can be shipped worldwide or customers are welcome to drop in, browse and buy direct.

THEIR NEEDS…

When considering the businesses requirement, Flybox.co.uk needed a space that was flexible and could meet the needs of the growing business. They need to be able to sell, store and send all from one location, whilst also having a comfortable office space to run the business from.

Flybox.co.uk pride themselves on their exceptional service and a quick turnaround is important. Ian continued: “We have to be able to store our products in a way that are both easy to find but that give customers who come in the chance to have a look for themselves.”

Located in Castlecroft’s King James VI Business Centre, just a stone’s throw from the M90 and, with a picturesque view of the salmon-filled River Tay, Ian found it to be the perfect location to meet his business needs. The serviced offices include free parking, additional meeting area space and all utilities, including internet and phone rental, are included in the monthly rental price.

“Since moving into the business centre we’ve seen a real increase in customers coming in to browse the products and shop directly. We’ve noticed a definite increase in customers coming from the South thanks to the great transport links close to the M90” commented Ian.

As the biggest participation sport in the UK, Flybox.co.uk have seen continued growth. The demand for Ian’s innovative products has seen them need to expand their office space twice in the last 18 months.

OUR SOLUTION…

Flybox.co.uk first took up residence in our King James VI building in 2011, occupying an office 270 sq. ft. They then doubled their office size with a move to another office space just a few doors down. When the time came to expand further, the dedicated King James VI reception team were on hand to help find the perfect solution with an expansion into the office space next door, adding an additional 350 sq. ft. amount of space.

They now occupy two adjoining offices, with a connecting internal door which Castlecroft helped fund. This additional space enabled them to have more preparation and manufacturing space and another separate space so that they can store larger items away from the ‘shop’ side.

“Castlecroft couldn’t have been more helpful throughout our transition and growth, not just in terms of accommodating our needs but at a competitive price too. Our recent move has enabled us to not only expand our office space but our business, giving us another 2 years-worth of space to grow” says Ian.

A huge part of their business is ease of distribution and Ian comments that Castlecroft offer “excellent facilities with great prices”. Around 90% of Flybox.co.uk mail goes through the mail at Castlecroft reception, saving Ian around 5 hours a week of Post Office trips. For orders that go through a Courier, the location means that they’re easy to find.

Finally, Ian comments: “It’s the small things that contribute to a great office. They’re comfortable and modern which makes it a good environment to spend your day. Nothing is ever to much bother and it’s great to have landlords who are always looking for ways to support your business.”
